An Outpouring of Love for Maria O’Connor

This has been an incredibly sad time for Tropicasa Realty and our community as we learned last week of the passing of our long-time co-worker and dear friend, Mary Beth “Maria” O’Connor.  Maria suffered complications from an emergency surgery and passed the evening of Wednesday, October 21, 2020. Whether serving her clients or reveling in her friends, she lived her life with an unyielding strength and enduring passion that was an inspiration to all that knew her.

We have been greatly touched by the outpouring of love and support in the community, particularly by a beautiful article that was written by Robert Nelson and published on Expats in Mexico – The Expats Guide to Living In Mexico, which you can read here.  Mr. Nelson has captured our feelings and our memories wonderfully and we appreciate the care with which he wrote his tribute.

We would also like to express our gratitude for Pilar Perez for organizing and dedicating a traditional Dia de los Muertos altar to Maria that will be open to the public to visit and leave flowers, photos, words or to share a memory in her honor. The altar be available for viewing beginning at 630pm on Friday, October 30th, until Monday, November 3rd, at 146 Pulpito at the entrance to Chris Wynn, located next door to Garbo’s. We remind everyone that as per new social distancing guidelines, please wear a mask while paying one’s respects, do not congregate in groups greater than 10, and visit no later than 8pm.

Tropicasa Realty will also host a celebration of life for Maria in the upcoming future when it is responsible for us to gather together. In all of our hearts and minds, she will be missed, but more importantly, she will be remembered.

Thank you,

Wayne Franklin and the team at Tropicasa Realty.
