a-romancePuerto Vallarta is one of the most romantic places on earth, named About.com’s Most Romantic Place and constantly featured in romance publications as the ideal location for a destination wedding, honeymoon or romantic getaway. In an effort to promote the city’s romance offerings, the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board held a US and Canadian press trip from April 23-27, 2014. Participating media included Real Weddings Magazine, Perfect Weddding Magazine, Wedding Guide, and the leisure publications, Luxury Experience, Senior News and the North Americas Travel Journalists Association’s Travel World International Magazine; a circulation of almost a million possible impressions in total.

The journalists, which included 3 working couples, experienced an agenda developed to highlight Puerto Vallarta’s combination of classic Mexico, world-class resorts, the majestic beauty of the Sierra Madre Mountains and the spectacular Bahía de Banderas.

t-romanceLead by DMC VTA – Vallarta Traveler Advisors, the trip began with a romantic, sunset-drenched walk across Puerto Vallarta’s Malecón, the Río Cuale market and Colonia Emiliano Zapata, popular for its romantic flair. Other activities popular in romantic getaways such as an outdoor tequila tasting at Casa Velas’ Botanical Garden, a cooking class at El Arrayán—an award-winning Mexican specialty restaurant—and couples massages at Grand Miramar Club & Spa and Villa Premiere Hotel & Spa were also included in the group’s itinerary.

The host hotel for this trip was Grand Miramar Club & Spa whose team transformed the hotel’s restaurant into the setting of a wedding ceremony as well as its reception. Costa Sur Hotel & Spa also invited the guests to imagine an evening of romantic bliss with their specific style of a reception set-up.

Restaurants like Blanca Blue and River Café showed off their culinary offerings as well as the elegant settings they can offer full weddings or rehearsal dinners.

A popular activity among the journalists was a visit to the city of Pitillal by Vallarta Food Tours. The town has been generating substantial coverage in US and Canadian media and this tour is ideal for couples wanting to explore Puerto Vallarta’s secret sides.
