It’s
that time of year again, when we remind you that now is the time to pay the property taxes on your Puerto Vallarta home or condo to save money on what is already a pleasantly low tax rate. In fact, low property taxes are one of the many reasons that owning a second home or vacation property in Puerto Vallarta is so attractive and achievable for many.

For example, the taxes (called “predial” in Mexico) for a single-family Puerto Vallarta home valued around $300,000 USD would be approximately $500 USD for the year, depending on the neighborhood in which you live, and condominiums of the same value would be around $415. But better yet, if you pay your taxes in Puerto Vallarta before the end of February 2021, you will receive a 15% discount for early payment.

Where do you pay Puerto Vallarta property taxes? There are a few options including the City Hall Building located at Independencia 123 in downtown Puerto Vallarta, UNIRSE at Grandes Lagos 236 in Fluvial or the City Hall building found at Mezquital 604 to pay in person. Please note that you will need a copy of your previous years’ taxes – if it is your first year as a homeowner in Puerto Vallarta, you will find the tax document located in the envelope of documents provided by your notary at time of closing  and remember that you are not able to pay your Puerto Vallarta house taxes using foreign currency or a credit card held at a foreign bank.

However, this year, Tropicasa Realty is strongly recommending a better way to pay your Puerto Vallarta property taxes is by using the online website to encourage social distancing while we continue to work together to keep our community healthy and for basic convenience. Just click here for the website.

You can’t ever escape taxes but one of the extra benefits of owning a home in Puerto Vallarta is that your annual homeowners taxes don’t take a huge chunk from your wallet, especially if you pay early.
