You'll often only be able to find cut tree before December 15th, when they are generally sold out across the city.
If you're on the hunt for a cut Christmas tree in Puerto Vallarta, try stores like Costco, Home Depot, Soriana, Walmart, Ley or Mega Comercial, but availability changes from year to year, so be prepared for a "tree treasure hunt". If you are lucky enough to find real tree, keep it well-watered, out of direct sunlight and away from air conditioning units to keep it green and with the needles on through the holiday season.
An easier option is to purchase an artificial tree, which also offers the convenience of repeated use year after year. You'll find artificial Christmas trees in Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit in the stores named above, but many will say that the nicest selections are offered at Liverpool, Home Depot, and Costco.
