We're starting 2026 with a Homeowner's Checklist that will keep your Puerto Vallarta home maintenance easy, organized and budget friendly. Follow along each week to make sure that your Puerto Vallarta property is set properly up for the new year. This week, let's save some money by prepaying your water bill.
Puerto Vallarta's water utility company is called SEAPAL, which provides water to your home for plumbing and appliances but is separate from drinking water delivery services. For some condo owners, the water bill might be included as part of the monthly HOA fees. Otherwise, condo owners and homeowners in Puerto Vallarta will receive a monthly or bimonthly (every two months) water bill from SEAPAL.
SEAPAL bills are delivered directly to your house: however, those pesky pieces of paper have a reputation for not turning up as expected. But you can save worry and take advantage of a 10% discount on your total 2026 water bill by paying for their year in advance.
If you visit the SEAPAL office before February 28th, you can pay an estimated yearly usage amount that is calculated based on your home's average consumption throughout 2025 and adjusted to this year's current rate. When the end of 2026 rolls around, your balance will be automatically checked, and if your usage amount is over or under, your statement will be corrected to reflect the difference.
There are three SEAPAL offices located around the city:
- Puerto Vallarta Office: Av. Francisco Villa at the corner of Manuel Ávila Camacho
- Pitillal Office: Av. Prisciliano Sánchez No. 400
- Ixtapa Office: Mexico No. 164
All three locations are open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday. Arrive prepared with your last SEAPAL bill, proof of residency, and a Mexican bank card or sufficient pesos to cover the full amount.
Next up on our 2026 checklist is an easy how-to on setting up your home office with reliable wifi service. Check back next week to check it off your list!
